UPDATE: 06/02/2024 8:08 AM – Oncor now reports nearly 1500 outages in it’s North Texas service area.

UPDATE: 05/30/2024; 6:45 PM – Oncor has outages down to 10,994 in the service area. More chunks of power resumption to customers is expected through Thursday evening and Friday; Oncor still says it expects to restore service to most if not all customers by or on Saturday.

UPDATE: 05/30/2024; 1:50 pm – Oncor says customers without power is now down to 11,340. Ongoing efforts continue to restore power to everyone impacted by this week’s severe storms. Officials indicated likely resolution by Saturday to most, if not all of those impacted.

UPDATE: 05/30/2024, 12:30AM – Andy Morgan with Oncor says the total number of customers without power is around 200,000 and they hope to have the majority of the outages back on line by Friday. Morgan reminds anyone working to clear tree limbs should avoid tree branches and other debris near damaged power lines and to call 9-1-1 to report the problem. Oncor will then be notified and will handle it.

UPDATE: 05/29/2024; 5:40 PM – Oncor reports 219,033 outages in area served. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reports most of those suffering power outages should be restored in the area by Friday or Saturday.

UPDATE: 05/29/2024, 3:20 PM – Oncor reports 238,232 customers without power in the North Texas service area.

UPDATE: 05/29/2024; 1:15 PM – Oncor reports fewer than 258,000 customers now without power across North Texas.

UPDATE: 05/28/2024; 5:25 PM – Oncor reports almost 490 thousand customers now without power as restoration efforts continue.

UPDATE: 05/28/2024; 3:17 PM – Oncor still restoring power to customers across North Texas. Current outages placed at approximately 539 thousand customers from 574 thousand about one hour ago. Cities will be setting up “cooling centers” for those without power in city recreational facilities, as per Dallas County Clay jenkins this morning.

UPDATE: 05/28/2024; 2:00 PM – More than 1300 flights have been canceled or delayed at both Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field. DFW reports 678 delays, 324 cancellations and Dallas Love Field, 122 delays and 207 cancellations.

Oncor reports almost 700,000 customers across North Texas without power following the storm Tuesday morning. Crews began arriving from out of town to aid in restoration as the winds eased in DFW. Currently, as of 2 pm Tuesday, Oncor reports power outages to 574,000 customers.

While power restoration is ongoing with still-arriving crews from around Texas, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins says officials expect power could be out for several days to some customers. He asks us to check on the elderly and neighbors, and if you have power but they do not, to invite them in. Jenkins says recreation centers in affected cities are making plans to open recreation centers as “cooling stations” for those that do not have air conditioning.

Oncor representative Grant Cruise asks you to stay off the streets if possible and allow Oncor work crews the room and safety to do their work getting power back on.

NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Several North Texas school districts canceled or delayed classes due to the severe storms that swept across the region Tuesday morning.

The storms brought heavy rain, damaging winds, flooding and widespread power outages.

Garland ISD canceled classes and officials said any children who were picked up by their busses will be taken to the closest campus until conditions are safe.

Irving ISD said busses are delayed about 45 minutes and classes will operate normally.

Classes at Desoto ISD and Carrollton-Farmers branch ISD are delayed for two hours.

The University of Texas at Dallas is closed until noon.

Collin College cancelled classes at its Plano campus. Other campuses will open at 10 a.m.

NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – As North Texans continue to recover from deadly tornadoes that swept across Cooke, Denton and Collin Counties Saturday, heavy rains and damaging winds pummeled DFW Tuesday morning.

As of 6:50 a.m., Oncor’s outage map reported more than 500,000 customers were without power.

Truck driver Ron Phillips said he was driving on 35N when the storm hit. He said the traffic slowed to about ten miles power hour near Corporate drive in Lewisville when another problem hit.

“At that point we couldn’t even see the road and I was changing lane someone stopped underneath a bridge…causing another problem…I looked up and saw the accident happen,” he said.

Phillips said a car slammed into the back of an 18 wheeler.

Robert lives in The Colony in a neighborhood just north of 121 between Josey and Page. He said water began to seep into his home at the height of the heavy rain.

“We were scared about election shorts and being shocked. The damage its going to do to the drywall and the house itself,” he said.

Kaufman, Van Zandt and Henderson Counties are under a Severe Thunderstorm warning with possibility of golf-ball sized hail and tornadoes until 7:30 a.m.

Collin, Dallas Kaufman, Denton and Rockwall Counties are under a flash flood warning until 9 a.m.

The weather impacted flights at North Texas airports. DFW International Airport reported 120 delays and almost 40 flights have been canceled as of 7:04 a.m.

Dallas Love Field reported more than 50 delayed flights and 40 cancellations.
