Young Cancer Survivor Gets To Meet Blake Shelton

When he was only 5 years old, Sammy Hodgett was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia after his family found a lump on his neck, and was put into a medically induced coma for 6 weeks, after a reaction to his chemotherapy treatment.

During recovery Sammy listened to Blake Shelton’s music, and said that it was his dream to meet Shelton.  After hearing the news, not only did Blake Shelton invite Sammy and his family, to his concert in Moline, Illinois, but also to hand out with him before the show.

Mike Hodgett, Sammy’s father, thanked Blake for his hospitality and generosity in an open letter to CMT.com.
“It is difficult to find the words to express how thankful we are for everything that you have done,” he writes. “Sammy has been smiling non-stop ever since the concert last weekend. Every morning he asks if we get to go see Blake again today.”
