Last weekend, Midland guitarist Jess Carson, and his wife welcomed their second child, Parker Emmanuel, into their family.
After an hour long drive from their home in Driftwood, to the nearest hospital in Austin, labor came on so suddenly and intensely that Carson’s wife, Camille, ended up giving birth in the parking lot of the hospital before they could even get inside
“We’re like halfway there and she’s saying, ‘Oh no, oh no, he’s coming,’” Carson relates. “She calls the midwife and the midwife’s on the phone and she’s yelling at me and telling me to pull over and she’s gonna talk me through delivering Parker.”
Carson pulled into the hospital parking lot, put the vehicle in park, and went to open the door for his wife. When he got to the passenger side, he stated that he “opened the door and Parker just came out.”
Doctors then met the couple in their car in the parking lot, and after the baby was born, they transferred them inside. Despite the frantic birth, Parker was born in good health. He weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz., and measured 19.5 inches long.
