After a 16 year absence, the hippos are returning to the Dallas Zoo!

According to zoo officials “bringing hippos back to Dallas has been in the works for several months and that the new exhibit will feature an underwater viewing area”.

The new exhibit will be known as, The Simmons Hippo Outpost, and will feature 2 hippos, a male and a female, which were brought in from other zoos. The male, Adhama, was brought in from Los Angeles, and the female, Boipelo, came from Albuquerque.

The Simmons Hippo Outpost opens the the public, later this April.
