A day dedicated to fighting hunger has officially earned a place in the Guinness World Records book, and Hawkeye & Michelle are proud to have been part of it.
In June, Hawkeye and Michelle served as emcees for Tango Charities’ Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Line of Sandwiches at Globe Life Field in Arlington. They were joined by ABC World News anchor Hannah Battah as thousands of volunteers gathered with one goal: make history while helping families in need.
Working alongside more than 1,000 volunteers, Tango Charities assembled an incredible 20,322 sandwiches, 1.44 miles long officially reclaiming the Guinness World Record for the Longest Line of Sandwiches. Every sandwich was distributed to local families experiencing food insecurity, helping address the increased need for meals during the summer months when many children no longer have access to school lunches.
Today, the excitement came full circle.
Nick Marino of Tango Charities stopped by the Hawkeye & Michelle studio to personally present the show with a commemorative plaque recognizing their role in the historic event.
“It was such an incredible day to witness,” Michelle said. “Seeing thousands of people come together for one purpose, helping our neighbors while making history, is something we’ll never forget.”
The record-breaking event was made possible through the support of community volunteers and partners, including the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, Bimbo Bakeries USA, Hellmann’s, Texas Live!, and The Real Dill, all of whom helped provide the ingredients, venue, and resources needed to make the massive undertaking possible.
While the world record is certainly exciting, the lasting impact is even more meaningful. More than 20,000 fresh sandwiches were immediately donated to local organizations serving families across North Texas, proving that when a community comes together, incredible things can happen.
