Hello! 24 year veteran teacher here, and I’m always looking for more ways to engage with my students. I have the privilege to be teaching GT to first through fifth graders. The things that I am asking for on my wish list or things that I use 3 to 5 days a week. As teachers, we spend a lot of money on our classrooms, and I am no exception to this rule. I would really appreciate the help of clearing my list!

I am a Resource/Inclusion teacher that loves everything about what I do. We have the most amazing students in the world and they deserve the very best. However sometimes my finances can’t afford everything they deserve. I want to teach through experiences and provide and safe and welcoming environment every day. I am moving classrooms this year and a lot of my old furniture is outdated or broken (normal wear and tear). Every little bit helps. Thank you for your commitment to our future.

Jessica P – Heartland – JW Long Elementary
This will be my 4th year teaching 2nd year in Terrell. This past year I fell in love teaching kindergarten and I am excited to start a new year. I am a mother of 3 and that gets tough trying to put your all into your classroom when you also have kids of your own. I absolutely love teaching and always appreciate any help provided.

Brittani A – Josephine – Roderick Elementary School
My name is Brittani Atchley. My husband Trevor and I got married in November of 2022, adopted our sweet German Shepherd puppy, Diesel in January and have been living and loving life in downtown Grapevine. As much as we love Grapevine, we eventually want land for our dog to play and hopefully one day be a great place for our future children to play and grow up, too. So, we decided to move closer to family and live more of the slower paced country life. We will be living in the small town of Josephine, which is also where I will be teaching. I will be starting a new position and going back into the classroom as a 5th grade math/science teacher. I thought Special Education would be where I would stay the majority of my career, but some unexpected life circumstances changed that for me. When I moved into the role as Special Education teacher, I sold most of the books for my classroom library, and gave away the majority of the classroom materials and supplies that I had saved up over the years. So, its almost like I’m starting over. The 2023-2024 school year will be my 10th year in education. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. Most recently I spent the last few years as a Special Education Resource and Inclusion teacher for grades K-5. I have always had a passion for education and have had the dream of being a teacher since I was little. While it may not be the best paying profession, I feel like every day I am making an impact. In May of 2019 I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. I would love to eventually be an elementary school assistant principal. I have a vision for impacting not just students, the families, and the community, but also partnering with teachers and walking alongside them and empowering them in a profession that is not always easy and isn’t always appreciated as it should be. Teachers change lives and impact students in ways that most people don’t ever see or hear about. A teacher can leave a lasting impression on the lives of kids, and that something worth celebrating and supporting!

Alissa G – Arlington – Peach Elementary
I am a 3rd year teacher, and headed back to a campus that I helped open 8 years ago. It is home, and I don’t plan on leaving again! I’m switching grades and contents, so I need a whole bunch of new things, plus the normal things that wear out during the year. Not only am I a teacher, I’m a single mom. That means that sometimes I have to choose to spend my money on my school kids instead of my own kids, and I don’t like that feeling. The crazy thing is that my school is a Title I school, so a lot of the parents can’t afford the necessary items needed for school. That’s where I have to step in, and it makes this part hard. However, I have been blessed with a servant’s heart, so no matter what, I always find a way to get it done! Teachers are a special breed, and I’m proud to be one!

Hi! I teach 8th graders about our great nation & how it was founded! My school is title 1 and in a very very low income area (rural Kaufman county). This is my second year of teaching so my stock pile is low. I am estimated to have about 130-150 students this year. Last year, very few students brought supplies and I went through paper pencils like toilet paper. About me- I am 36 and a mom of two, both of which have birthdays 6 days a part, right when school starts, so the month of August is financially draining for me (soon to be 9 and 15). I am finishing up grad school with my Masters in Teaching and I should graduate this next May! I love to bake but hate to cook, I love puzzles, crafts and animals. I have two mini Aussies that are 2 and 3 years old. I love crime shows and I absolutely love naps! Thank you for your consideration! Be blessed!

Lesley H – Dallas – Reuben Johnson Elementary
I am a single mama born and raised in Far North Dallas. Growing up was not the easiest or the best because I endured abuse in many forms. After I graduated high school in 2010, I began a 13 year long journey to get my college degree. I put in work at three different schools to get this done. I continued to face abuse and had little to no support from the people around me. During this time, I moved around a lot to be able to find a safe place to stay. I worked multiple jobs and put myself through school. In 2013, out of nowhere, I had an autoimmune disease. I was in the hospital and did physical therapy for a while. My body had to relearn how to walk, smile, and use its muscles again. In 2015 I became a mother to a beautiful son. I continued to push forward by taking time off from school when needed (a lot of time off) and working low paying undesirable jobs. I quickly realized that I couldn’t truly trust or rely on anyone to help me, so I became my own hero. This past year I completed my student teaching while going to school full time and being a single mama. I graduated this past May from a college in the DFW area with honors! One chapter of my life has finally closed, and a new one is just beginning. I hope to become an inspiration to the students I teach and a safe person for them to come to for help. The struggle to afford life is still very real and that is why I am submitting my wish list. I would greatly appreciate any help I can receive. Thank you!!!
