More on the album: El Rio was recorded at the famed Sonic Ranch, just south of El Paso in Tornillo, Texas. A six minute documentary piece entitled “Journey To Sonic Ranch: The Making Of El Rio” chronicles the record-making process in Texas where Ballard, his bandmates and his producer Marshall Altman immersed themselves in creating this album 24/7.
