My First Oil Change!

So I had some people that doubted I could do it.

Last month, my father passed away. Ill tell you, its been difficult to get used to him not being around. He did a lot for me as I just tried to keep up with my day to day, sometimes working 7-days a week. Now a days, I only work 6-days a week :-p

11011719_10155484768620411_8473307954180535376_nDad did a lot for me, including changing the oil in my vehicle. Well, it was oil change time and I decided I wanted to do it on my own. Not only cause it was something close to my heart but to prove that there aren’t many manly men out there anymore. Sure, there are some but my experiences haven’t always been the best. The men of today seem to just like to play video games and watch sports. Oh I have an issue? I have to handle it. That’s fine, any girl will tell you… “We’ve got this”!

So I ventured out to the store and picked up 6 quarts of synthetic oil and my filter. I looked it all up before hand, except the part where you actually change it. I kind of had an idea what you did, since my dad and brother did it all the time. I already had a pan, funnel and my dad’s tools. I went to work! The only surprise was the amount of oil that dripped from the oil filter. I had no idea oil would come from there, I know logic wasn’t really on my side that day.

I was able to change it all with a minor burn on my arm as I tighten the oil filter. It wasn’t a tough job at all, but it did surprise me after doing, just how easy it was and how hard or complicated some men make it out to be. I wonder what other things they may exaggerate about? Will I do it again? Probably so!
