U.S. Attorney for Southern District of Texas Announces Drug Seizures; Arrests in Five-Year Investigation Targeting Mexican Cartel CJNG

HOUSTON – (WBAP/KLIF) – A five year long multi-agency investigation into the smuggling of illegal drugs into Texas and other locations in the United States and worldwide is announced by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas on Monday. U.S. Attorney Alamar Hamdani announced a 50-count indictment, and arrrest warrants for 41 people, the arrests of 23, and detailed the investigating agencies and drugs seized during the probe.

In Houston Monday, Hamdani announced the seizure of more than 22,000 pills laced with fentanyl, 550 kilos of methamphetimine, 219 kilos of cocaine and 34 kilos of heroin. Hamdani attributed all to the investigation focused on Mexico’s “four letter” cartel, the “C J N G”. He says the cartel is characterized by extreme violence and trafficking in the most deadly of substances, and money laundering.

Hamdani indicated some of those targeted by arrest warrants in the years-long investigation are believed in Houston, other Texas cities, other U.S. cities, and likely stationed around the world, including the country of Laos, in work for this cartel. Hamdani says he wants to educate Texans and others in America’s public the drug dealing cartels are located in neighborhoods everywhere; Houston and many other Texas cities, and beyond.

Agencies working on this investigation included the DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, the ATF, Galveston and Houston Police Departments. Manhunts for the additional suspects named in the arrest warrants continue.
